Salford’s new AB640 air boom applicator merges the high capacity of the Salford 9620 with the expansive 90-foot swath seen on Salford chassis mount applicators. This design allows producers to cover 22% more ground per pass compared to a 70-foot applicator, minimizing compaction and increasing efficiency.
Key Features
- Wide Swath: The 90-foot swath covers more ground with each pass, reducing field compaction.
- High Capacity: The massive 640 cubic foot hopper reduces the need for frequent fill stops.
- Walking Tandem & Dual Tires: Dual 800/65R32 tires and walking tandem ensure safe and comfortable operation, even with a full load.
- Micro-Bin: The 100 cubic foot micro-bin allows for precision application of low rate micro-nutrients and crop protection products with optional secondary metering.
Precision Control
- Raven RCM: Precision application and left/right section control are managed by the Raven RCM, ensuring accurate coverage.
- Optional Raven XRT Auto-Boom: Maintains consistent boom height automatically, enhancing application accuracy and protecting the boom from ground strikes.
Ease of Use
- Built-In Sight Windows: Provide easy visibility for monitoring.
- Electric Roll Tarp: Simplifies tarp management.
- Grease Banks: Centralize lubrication points for easy maintenance.
Benefits
- Increased Efficiency: Cover more ground with fewer passes.
- Reduced Compaction: Wide swath design minimizes soil compaction.
- Less Downtime: High capacity reduces the frequency of fill stops.
- Accurate Application: Precision control with advanced Raven technology.
- User-Friendly: Features designed for ease of operation and maintenance.
The AB640 has a 90ft boom. When applying product you have over a 20% increase over competitive 70ft boom machines. The booms are 78.5 inches off the ground, and are able to travel 104 inches, 52 inches up, and 52 inches down. Boom outlets are on 30 inch centers.
The AB640 was designed new from the ground up. The new frame that is the base for the unit, is designed to mitigate hitch slap in certain loading conditions. To secure the hopper to the frame, the AB640 comes standard with 8 double ended shear beam load cells. These cells provide a solid mounting point as well as accurate weight readings of remaining product.
The AB640 uses the Raven® RCM for precision application control of the primary and secondary metering, including the left/right section control. The Raven RCM is one of the most common, easiest and reliable rate control systems available today.
The AB640 comes with a switch box to fold and un-fold the booms, lock the booms when folded, and to raise and lower the booms. The switchbox can be upgraded to a joystick if the operators prefers.
